Jahorina is in Bosnia-Herzegovina, southeast of Sarajevo. It is on a mountain which borders the two other famous mountains of the region , those of Bjelasnica and Trebevic. In the Winter Olympics of 1984 , hosted by Sarajevo , it was the site for women's skiing events.

Due to its geographic position, Jahorina has a temperate mountain climate which lets it avoid extremes of temperature in both winter and summer. This makes it a popular tourist resort all year around. The winter season typically starts in October when there is a heavy blanket of snowfall which turns the area into the proverbial witner wonderland. In the spring and summer time it is lush and green, with beautiful flowers and wildlife.

Jahorina is renowned for its clean air and rich vegetation. It is a haven for homeopaths as it provides an unparalleled range of curative herbs. The mild climate in summer added to its high-altitude attracts many kinds of professional athletes, who can exercise free of sweltering conditions.
